Emergency Management
Responsibilities
Emergency Management plans for potential emergency events that might occur in Dover such as major storms. When citizens contact Emergency Management, they provide information regarding status of an emergency as it relates to the Town of Dover; i.e.: lost power, hazardous conditions and unsafe conditions regarding utilities.They will open and maintain emergency shelters for citizens, town workers and emergency crews during storms or other disasters if the need arises and provide food for those in need.
Emergency Management also provides back-up communications capabilities for various town departments in the event of an emergency situation in town.
Reporting
Emergency Management reports to the Board of Selectmen as well as the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Report Lost Power
Please call NSTAR 1-800-592-2000 to report lost power. The Emergency Management Department wants to know of outages so please call us after calling NSTAR. Please do not call the Police for lost power.

Customers can contact Verizon at 800-VERIZON (800-837-4966) or online through Verizon’s support website at to report any service-related issue.

Dover Town Code
There shall be an Emergency Management Team which shall consist of a Director appointed by the Selectmen for a two-year term and one or more Deputy Directors appointed by the Selectmen for two-year terms.The Team’s duties and authority shall include, but shall not be limited to, those specified in the Massachusetts Civil Defense Act, Massachusetts Statutes 1950, chapter 639, Sections 11-18, 20, as amended.
