Dover’s updated Stormwater bylaw protects clean water, reduces flooding, and now includes specific guidelines for preserving important trees during construction.
You must obtain a Chat 159 Stormwater Permit before any tree removal or site work if your project will:
- Change grade or vegetation over 5500 sq. ft or 25% of your lot
- Store 100+ cubic yards of soil or fill
- Include work in Wetland Resource Areas or Protected Buffer Zones (These may also require Conservation Commission permits).
Tree Protection Requirements Include:
- Protected trees (6” or larger) and their roots must be preserved within setback areas
- A Tree Protection Zone must be marked during construction
- Mitigation may be required, including tree replacement or contributing to Dover’s Tree Protection Revolving Fund
